New and Final website
www.jackpaul.co.uk
After the last session where I decided I did not want the WIX ADI to create my website for me, I went back to the standard WIX software and it proved to be so much better than the last software. I was able to fully construct my website and be in complete control of how it worked. I was able to keep this minimal them ongoing, and have everything aligned int he way that I wanted. I used multiple pages and got rid of any drop down menus. Instead you would click a page link at the top and be taken to a new page, which contains invisible sub pages that could be looked at from there (example of this is my "Projects" page)
I was able to create an "entry" page that shows up when you first view the website. It then has a button which redirects into the website, after this it cannot be seen again and I feel that it acts as a nice gateway into my work.
I have included pages solely for wildlife photography and one for travel photography, these are both on-going projects that do not need to be resolved and are there to show off my photographic skills and aesthetic to whomever may be viewing my site. I feel that this shows my development and how I look at things through everyday life. I feel that it also gives my website more depth and will bring in a greater crowd of people.
I have used a mixture of still images, slideshows and galleries to really show the diversity on my website, with everything linking to the relevant page. On the home page I have a gallery that shows off my latest project "Beyond Glass", I have this one featured as I feel that it will be my most memorable work from the off, and it is also the work that I will be showing at the exhibition. On this page I also have introductory text to my practice, and image links to the 'animals' and 'travel' pages.
I have used fade in effects throughout all of my pages so as you change in-between them you are greeted with softness and nothing is immediately shoved in your face. This also occurs as you scroll down the pages, images and text slowly appear to give a sense of calmness. It also make the viewer want to scroll through the pages more, hopefully showing them the wide range of photography that I am showcasing.
On my about page I have included an image of me, this is subject to change in the future as I change in appearance but I feel that it is nice that people know what I look like before contacting me.
On all of my pages there are social links as lot of people today pay more attention to apps such as Twitter and Instagram. I have created my own accounts on both platforms so I can widen my audience, everything on these apps will link back to my website bringing in more traffic and more potential customers and clients. Social media acts as a brilliant way to share images and get them noticed, it just has to be by the right people.
